Today I found inner peace at this temple , after a pleasant travel , I would recommend this place for the people who needs a self satisfaction and inner peace.

Mayuranathar Temple

1.This is one of the oldest and biggest temple of shiva peruman.

2.When shiva peruman was explaining the meaning of vedhas to parvathi devi , she was seeing the Lord murugan playing with peacock and lost her concentration on listening about Vedhas. As shiva peruman noticed , he became angry and cursed Parvathi devi to become a peacock.

3.Following to this Parvathi devi worshipped shiva peruman in the form of a peacock in kapaleeshwarar temple.  The place where parvathi devi worshipped shiva peruman in peacock form is called as thirumailai otherwise called as mylapore.

4.Then shiva peruman gave sapa vimochanam to Parvathi devi from a peacock to goddess  at this temple in mayavaram.

5.Hence shiva peruman is called as mayuranathar and parvathi devi is called as Abayambikai.

6.Here shiva peruman performed a special dance called as mayurathandavam.

7.this is the parent temple to kapaleeshwarar temple at mylapore in chennai.

8.This place was recognized and visited by Saiva nalvar , appar, sundarar, sambandar and manikavasagar. Also called as padal petra stalam.

9.This is one of the temple which has thirupalliarai.

10.This is one of the biggest temple of shiva peruman in tamilnadu.

11.Here panguni uthram will not take place, instead ippasi utsavam will be performed.

12.The lingam is suyambu , as it came by itself.

13.Next to madurai here lord vinayaka idle  is very big.

14.on the entrance thangamuneeshwarar sannidhi is present.

15. Next to the entrance you could see shiva peruman and parvathi devi as a couple (urchavar).

16. The inner praharam of Abayambikai (parvathi devi ) is very big .

The praharam is very big and you should complete a round to see Abayambikai  (parvathi devi ).  Temple is very well maintained with respect to the crowd.Day watchman needs to be there. More number of lights should installed here as one of the regular  temple visitor told.this place makes me so astonishing and gives me inner peace.

This temple is very near from mayavaram junction.
